Hi, I’m Jessica!
I graduated cum laude from Boston University in 2006 with a degree in Psychology and completed premedical coursework. I spent five years working in pharmacology research at John Hopkins University before moving to California in search of sunshine. I have been a tutor since 2013 and an SAT/ACT tutor since 2015. I’m a 99th percentile scorer on both tests. During my tutoring career, I have worked with students from many San Diego high schools, including Francis Parker, Bishop’s, Pacific Ridge, Cathedral, LJCD, SDJA, CCA, Torrey, La Jolla High, Coronado High, and Poway. My students’ average score gain on the ACT is about 5 points. I’ve helped students get into Cornell, UCLA, Penn, USC, Cal (Berkeley), NYU, Northeastern, and Yale, among many others.
I specialize in structure, accountability, and presenting material in a wide range of formats. I enjoy neurodiversity and am always looking for new ways to help different learners succeed.
In my free time, I enjoy chihuahua cuddles, woodworking, gardening, bragging about the superiority of my elderly sewing machine, cooking comfort food, and dreaming of my next trip.
